Intended Use Policy

INTENDED USE POLICY
Last Updated: March 18, 2026
Our Philosophy
Fronteer is built for golfers who believe the best rounds are measured by the stories you tell, not the numbers on the card. We are a course discovery and community platform — not a performance tracker and not a score tracking app.
Our mission is to help you find courses you’ll actually love, based on what matters to you. A hidden gem municipal course can match just as well as a famous country club if it fits your preferences. We call this approach anti-prestige by design: your experience is the metric that matters.
This Intended Use Policy explains how Fronteer is designed to be used, what we expect from our community, and where the boundaries are. By using Fronteer, you agree to use the platform in a way that is consistent with this policy, our Terms and Conditions, and our Privacy Policy.
What Fronteer Is For
Fronteer is intended for the following uses:
Course Discovery and Exploration
Exploring golf courses through the Roam map, using filters for state, access type (public, private, resort, semi-private), price tier, difficulty, and distance.
Browsing course detail pages with community ratings, user-contributed photos, course tags, and course information (architect, par, yardage, slope).
Searching for courses by name, city, or state.
Round Logging and Your Golf Journal
Logging rounds you’ve played with course, date, score (optional), time of day, duration, and number of holes played.
Rating your experience across six categories displayed on radar charts: Course Quality, Pace, Scenery, Value, Difficulty, and Facilities. These ratings reflect your personal experience, not an objective standard.
Adding tags from a curated catalog (e.g., “Golden Age Architecture,” “Firm & Fast Fairways,” “Ocean Views,” “Hidden Gem”) to describe your experience and contribute to community course profiles.
Uploading photos from your round to build a personal golf journal.
Recording written notes and reflections on your rounds.
Receiving a Fronteer Score: a personalized enjoyment score calculated from your category ratings and preference weights. You can adjust this score to reflect how you actually felt about the round.
Personalized Recommendations
Recommendations are generated by a preference-matching algorithm based on your rating patterns and onboarding selections. No course can pay to rank higher in your recommendations.
Social Features and Community
Connecting with other golfers through friend requests and follows.
Viewing friends’ activity in the Clubhouse feed, including round completions, course photos, and trip recaps.
Liking and commenting on friends’ rounds.
Sending course suggestions directly to friends.
Creating and joining Groups for regular play and trip coordination.
Trip Planning
Planning golf trips by grouping courses, setting a Home Base location, inviting members, and building an itinerary.
Tracking trip progress and marking trips as completed.
Viewing trip recaps that compare your planned itinerary against rounds actually played.
Wishlist and Rankings
Saving courses to a personal wishlist for future play.
Ranking your favorite courses and rounds on the Tee Sheet using drag-and-drop ordering.
Course Requests and Feedback
Requesting new courses be added to the platform through the in-app course request feature.
Submitting feature suggestions, bug reports, and user reports through Settings.
What Fronteer Is Not
To preserve the spirit of the platform, it is important to clarify what Fronteer is not designed for:
Fronteer is not a score tracking app. We do not track shot-by-shot data, strokes gained analytics, or detailed scoring statistics. You can optionally record your total score, but our focus is on the experience, not the number.
Fronteer is not a gambling or wagering platform. You may not use Fronteer to facilitate betting, pooling money, or any form of gambling on golf outcomes.
Fronteer is not a marketplace. Fronteer is not a platform for buying, selling, trading, or commercial solicitation between users.
Fronteer is not a dating or general social networking app. Interactions on the platform should relate to golf, travel, and course discovery.

Community Standards
Fronteer is a community built on shared enthusiasm for exploration and the game. We expect all users to engage in a way that reflects the spirit of the platform: welcoming, authentic, and respectful.
Be Respectful
Treat other members the way you would treat a playing partner. Harassment, bullying, hate speech, discriminatory language, threats, and personal attacks have no place on Fronteer. This applies to all user-generated content, including course reviews, Clubhouse posts, round notes, profile bios, group names, and course suggestions.
Be Authentic
Your Fronteer profile and activity should represent you honestly:
Do not impersonate other individuals, courses, or organizations.
Do not create fake accounts or multiple accounts to manipulate features.
Course ratings and reviews should reflect genuine personal experiences. Submitting fraudulent ratings to inflate or deflate a course’s community scores undermines the entire platform and may result in account termination.
Do not submit false or misleading course requests.
Respect Privacy
Fronteer is designed with privacy at its core. We do not access your phone contacts, and our friend discovery is based on usernames and invite links, not contact scraping.
Do not share other people’s personal information without their consent.
Photos uploaded to Fronteer should respect the privacy of other golfers, course staff, and anyone else who appears in your images.
Do not circumvent privacy controls (Public, Friends Only, Private) by sharing private content outside the platform without permission from those involved.
If someone asks you to remove a photo in which they appear, respect that request.
Keep It About the Game
Fronteer exists to celebrate golf as an experience. Content that is off-topic, spam, promotional solicitation, or unrelated to golf and travel detracts from the community. We reserve the right to remove content that does not align with the purpose of the platform.
Prohibited Uses
The following activities are strictly prohibited on Fronteer:
Account and Access
Creating multiple accounts for deceptive purposes, including evading bans, manipulating community features, or inflating ratings.
Selling, transferring, or sharing your account with another person.
Attempting to gain unauthorized access to other user accounts or to Fronteer’s backend systems.
Using the platform for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law.
Data and System Integrity
Using automated scripts, bots, scrapers, or other automated means to access, collect data from, or interact with the Services.
Scraping or systematically extracting course data, user data, community ratings, photos, or tags from the App.
Reverse engineering, decompiling, or disassembling any portion of the Fronteer application or its underlying technology, including the recommendation algorithm and preference matching system.
Interfering with or disrupting the integrity or performance of the Services, including uploading malicious code, viruses, or other harmful materials.
Attempting to manipulate the recommendation algorithm by submitting false data, spamming interactions, or using automated tools.
Content and Communication
Uploading, posting, or transmitting content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable.
Using Fronteer to send unsolicited commercial messages, advertisements, or spam to other users.
Posting content that contains nudity, graphic violence, or sexually explicit material.
Uploading content that infringes on the intellectual property rights of others.
Using social features (Clubhouse, Groups, course suggestions) for purposes unrelated to golf, travel, and course discovery.
Commercial Exploitation
Selling, reselling, or commercially exploiting any aspect of the Services without our express written consent.
Using course data, community ratings, or recommendations obtained through the App to operate a competing service.
Using the platform to advertise or solicit commercial goods or services.
Content Guidelines
Photos and Media
Fronteer encourages you to capture and share the beauty of the courses you visit. When uploading photos:
Only upload photos you have taken yourself or have explicit permission to share.
Do not upload photos that contain nudity, graphic violence, or otherwise inappropriate content.
Be mindful of other people in your photos. Respect requests to remove photos in which someone appears.
Do not upload content that infringes on the intellectual property rights of others.
Photos uploaded with Public visibility are eligible for selection as course cover images. These photos are evaluated by our automated quality assessment system, which scores images based on technical quality (focus, exposure, resolution), course representation, and seasonal relevance. Photos that meet quality thresholds are tiered (Gold, Silver, Approved) and may appear as featured images on course pages.
By uploading photos with Public visibility, you consent to their use as described in our Terms and Conditions, including potential use in Fronteer marketing materials and social media.
Course Ratings and Reviews
Your ratings help other golfers discover courses that match their preferences. We ask that all ratings and reviews:
Reflect a genuine experience at the course being reviewed.
Focus on your personal experience: the setting, the layout, the conditions, the pace, the vibe. Fronteer is about what matters to you, not about ranking courses against each other.
Rate each category honestly. Ratings across Course Quality, Pace, Scenery, Value, Difficulty, and Facilities feed into the community averages displayed on course pages and power recommendations for all users. Deliberately inflated or deflated ratings harm the entire community.
Avoid personal attacks against course staff, other golfers, or specific individuals.
Do not include promotional content, affiliate links, or solicitations in reviews.
Tags
When tagging your rounds, select tags from the curated catalog that accurately describe your experience. Tags contribute to community course profiles and help other golfers understand what to expect. Do not use tags misleadingly.
Use of AI Features
Fronteer uses artificial intelligence and algorithmic processing to power certain features:
Course Recommendations
Personalized recommendations are generated by a preference-matching algorithm that compares your rating patterns against community course data. Recommendations are suggestions based on available data — course conditions, availability, pricing, and your actual experience may vary. Recommendations are refreshed periodically based on your membership tier.
Photo Quality Assessment
Photos uploaded with Public visibility may be evaluated by an AI model to assess suitability as course cover images. This assessment examines technical quality, course representation, and seasonal relevance. The AI does not receive your personal information — only the image and basic course context.
Content Moderation
User-submitted content may be subject to automated moderation to identify material that violates our Community Standards or this policy.
Your Responsibilities with AI Features
Understand that AI-generated recommendations and assessments are suggestions, not guarantees.
Do not attempt to manipulate AI features by submitting false data, spamming interactions, or using automated tools.
AI features process data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Enforcement
We take the integrity of the Fronteer community seriously. If we determine that a user has violated this Intended Use Policy, we may take one or more of the following actions at our sole discretion:
Issue a warning to the user.
Remove or restrict access to specific content.
Temporarily suspend the user’s account.
Permanently terminate the user’s account.
Report the activity to law enforcement if required by law or if we believe the activity poses a risk of harm to others.
Enforcement decisions are made at our sole discretion. Repeated or severe violations will result in permanent account termination. If your account is terminated, you may not create a new account without our permission.
Reporting Violations
If you encounter content or behavior that violates this policy, we encourage you to report it through one of the following channels:
In-app reporting: Use the Report a User feature in Settings, or report content directly through in-app options. Reports can include optional screenshots and are reviewed by our team.
Email: Contact us at fronteersmen@gmail.com with details of the violation.
We review all reports and will take appropriate action. Report categories include: inappropriate username, inappropriate name, inappropriate photo, and inappropriate comment.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Intended Use Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our Services, community standards, or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will notify you through an in-app notification or other reasonable means. Your continued use of Fronteer after changes are posted indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
