Onboarding preferences: preferred course, challenge level, price range, round duration, and importance weighting across rating categories.
Round data: course played, date, score, time of day, duration, holes played, ratings across six categories (Course Quality, Pace, Scenery, Value, Difficulty, Facilities), written notes, tags, and challenge/pace reasons.
Photos: golf course photos uploaded during round logging, along with EXIF metadata (date, location) when available.
Social interactions: friend requests, follows, group memberships, course suggestions sent to friends, round likes, and trip participation.
Trip planning data: trip itineraries, Home Base locations, trip member lists, and trip completion status and reflections.
Wishlist and rankings: courses saved to your wishlist and your Tee Sheet ranking order.

Information Collected Automatically
When you use the App, we automatically collect:
Device information: device model, operating system version, app version, build number, locale, and unique device identifiers.
Usage data: screens viewed, features used, buttons tapped, navigation paths, session duration, and session identifiers. This data is collected through Firebase Analytics.
Location data: if you grant permission, we collect your device’s location to power the Roam map and distance-based course filtering. See Section 9 for details.
Crash and performance data: error reports and performance metrics to help us identify and fix issues.
Information We Do Not Collect
We want to be clear about what we do not collect:
We do not access your phone contacts. Friend discovery is based on usernames, invite links, and in-app friend requests.
We do not collect financial or payment card information. Premium subscriptions are processed entirely through the Apple App Store.
We do not collect biometric data (fingerprints, face scans, voiceprints).
We do not collect browsing history or activity outside of the Fronteer App.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information for the following purposes:
Operating the App: creating and maintaining your account, authenticating your identity, and delivering the features you use (round logging, Roam map, Clubhouse feed, trip planning, wishlist, Tee Sheet).
Personalized recommendations: analyzing your rating patterns, onboarding preferences, and round history to generate course recommendations tailored to your preferences. See Section 5.
Community course data: aggregating your ratings (anonymized) with other users’ ratings to generate community averages displayed on course pages via radar charts.
Photo processing: evaluating photos you upload with Public visibility for potential use as course cover images. See Section 4 and Section 6.
Social features: displaying your activity in friends’ Clubhouse feeds, facilitating friend requests and follows, and powering group and trip functionality.
Communications: sending push notifications (if enabled), in-app messages, and account-related emails.
Improving the Services: analyzing usage patterns to understand how features are used, identify bugs, and prioritize product improvements.
Safety and moderation: reviewing reported content and user reports, enforcing our Community Guidelines and Terms and Conditions.
Legal compliance: complying with applicable laws and responding to valid legal requests.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share your information only in the following circumstances:
With Other Fronteer Users
Depending on your privacy settings, certain information is visible to other users:
Your profile (name, username, bio, profile photo) is visible to other users when they view your profile or see your activity in the Clubhouse.
Rounds, photos, and notes set to “Public” visibility may appear on course pages and in other users’ feeds.
Rounds, photos, and notes set to “Friends Only” are visible to your accepted friends and followers.
Content set to “Private” is visible only to you.
Your default visibility settings for photos and comments can be configured in Settings > Social and Privacy.
With Service Providers
We use the following third-party service providers to operate the Services:
Supabase: database hosting, authentication, and serverless functions (data stored in the United States).
Cloudflare R2: photo storage and delivery.
Firebase Analytics: usage analytics and crash reporting.
Anthropic (Claude): AI-powered photo quality evaluation and content processing. See Section 6.
Apple: App Store distribution, in-app purchases, and Apple Sign-In authentication.
Google: Google Sign-In authentication and Google Maps APIs for location services.
These providers process data on our behalf under contractual obligations to protect your information and use it only for the purposes we specify.
In Other Circumstances
Business transfers: If Fronteer LLC is acquired, merged, or sells assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change.
Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Fronteer, our users, or others.
With your consent: We may share information for purposes not described here if we obtain your explicit consent.
Anonymized and Aggregated Data
We may create anonymized or aggregated data from your information by removing identifying details so that it can no longer reasonably be used to identify you. This anonymized data may include aggregated course ratings, usage statistics, trend analyses, and community-level preference patterns. We may use and share anonymized or aggregated data for research, analytics, business development, and improving the Services. This data is not subject to the restrictions on personal information described in this Privacy Policy, as it is no longer personally identifiable.
4. Your Photos and Content
Photos you upload during round logging are stored securely and governed by the visibility setting you choose:
Public: Visible to all users. Public photos are eligible to be selected as course cover images displayed throughout the App. Public photos may also be used in Fronteer marketing materials and social media.
Friends Only: Visible to your accepted friends and followers.
Private: Visible only to you.
You can set default photo and comment visibility in Settings > Social and Privacy. This default applies to future rounds and does not retroactively change existing content.
Public photos are evaluated for technical quality using automated AI processing (see Section 6). Photos that meet quality thresholds may be scored and ranked for potential use as course cover images. This evaluation examines image clarity, exposure, composition, and seasonal relevance.
Once uploaded, photos cannot be replaced but can be deleted. Deleting a photo removes it from course cover candidacy and from your round. You can also change a photo’s visibility after upload, which may affect its eligibility for course cover use.
We do not use your private or friends-only photos for any purpose beyond displaying them to you and your authorized connections.
5. Personalized Recommendations and Preference Data
Fronteer builds a preference profile for each user based on:
Your onboarding selections (preferred challenge level, price range, round duration, importance).
Your round ratings across six variables (Course Quality, Pace, Scenery, Value, Difficulty, Facilities).
The courses you have played, wishlisted, and rated over time.
This preference profile is processed by our recommendation algorithm, which uses a weighted matching system to compare your preferences against community-aggregated course data. The algorithm considers preference alignment, tolerance ranges, and confidence levels based on how many ratings a course has received.
Your preference profile is not shared with other users, is not sold to third parties, and is not used for advertising. It exists solely to power your personalized recommendations.
Recommendations are not influenced by paid placements, advertising, or partnerships with golf courses. No course can pay to appear higher in your recommendations.
Your preference profile updates automatically as you log more rounds. You can reset your preference profile by contacting us.
6. Artificial Intelligence and Automated Processing
We use AI-powered tools in the following ways:
Photo Quality Evaluation
When you upload a photo with Public visibility, it may be evaluated by an AI model (currently Claude Haiku, provided by Anthropic) to assess its suitability as a course cover image. The evaluation considers technical quality (focus, exposure, resolution), course representation (whether the photo shows recognizable golf course features), and seasonal relevance. Photos receive a quality score that determines their eligibility tier (Gold, Silver, or Approved).
The AI processes only the image and basic course context (course name, city, state). It does not receive your personal information, account details, or preference data.
Content Moderation
User-submitted content (photos and reviews) may be subject to automated content moderation to identify content that violates our Community Guidelines.
Recommendation Engine
The recommendation algorithm uses mathematical scoring (weighted dot products and preference matching) rather than generative AI. However, course data inputs to the algorithm include community-aggregated statistics derived from all users’ ratings.
We do not use AI to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you. If automated processing materially affects your experience (e.g., account moderation decisions), you may request human review by contacting us.
7. Analytics and Performance Monitoring
We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the App is used. Firebase collects:
Screen views and navigation paths
Feature usage events (buttons tapped, rounds started/completed, courses viewed)
Session information (session ID, session start time, session duration)
Device and app metadata (app version, build number, OS version, locale, environment)
We also set limited user properties for analytics segmentation: age range bucket and gender (as provided during onboarding). These are used only in aggregate to understand our user base and are not used for advertising or shared with advertisers.
Firebase Analytics is provided by Google. Google’s privacy practices are governed by the Google Privacy Policy. We do not use Google Analytics for advertising purposes.
We do not use third-party advertising trackers, and we do not serve ads within the App.
8. Authentication and Social Logins
You can create an account using:
Username and password
Apple Sign-In
Google Sign-In
When you use Apple or Google Sign-In, we receive your name and email address from the provider. Apple Sign-In may allow you to hide your email address, in which case we receive a relay address. We do not receive your Apple or Google password.
We do not access your friends list, contacts, or other data from Apple or Google beyond what is needed for authentication.
Authentication is handled through Supabase Auth, which securely manages sessions and tokens.
9. Location Data
The App may request access to your device’s location. Location data is used for:
Powering the Roam map and distance-based course filtering.
Calculating distance from your location to courses.
Providing location context for trip planning (e.g., drive time from Home Base to courses).
Location access is optional. If you deny location permissions, the Roam map will still function (you can search and browse courses manually), but distance-based features will be unavailable.
You can change location permissions at any time in your iOS device settings. You can also set a custom default location in the App’s settings to use instead of your live location.
Location data is accessed when you use location-based features in the App, such as the Roam map or trip planning. We do not use location data for advertising or share precise location data with third parties. If the App requires any background location access in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and request your permission through iOS system prompts before enabling it.
10. Push Notifications and Communications
We may send you push notifications regarding:
Social activity (friend requests, likes, course suggestions from friends).
Trip updates and reminders.
New recommendation availability.
Course request status updates.
App updates and announcements.
You can manage push notification preferences in Settings > Notifications within the App, or by disabling notifications for Fronteer in your iOS device settings.
11. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Services.
When you delete your account (through Settings > Account > Delete Account):
Your personal profile information, round logs, photos, ratings, notes, wishlist, groups, and trip data are deleted from our active databases.
Your preference profile and recommendation data are deleted.
Anonymized, aggregated data derived from your ratings (community course averages) may be retained, as it is no longer personally identifiable.
Backup copies may persist for a limited period as part of routine backup cycles before being purged.
Information required for legal compliance, fraud prevention, or dispute resolution may be retained as permitted by law.
12. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including:
Row-level security (RLS) policies on our database, ensuring users can only access their own data.
Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data transmission.
Secure authentication token management.
Scoped storage access policies for photos and file uploads.
Despite these measures, no system is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee that unauthorized access, data loss, or breaches will never occur. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
13. Children’s Privacy
The Services are not intended for children under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have collected information from a child under 18, we will deactivate the account and delete the data promptly.
If you believe a child under 18 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at fronteersmen@gmail.com.

You will not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights.
Under certain state data protection laws, you may designate an authorized agent to submit a privacy request on your behalf. If an authorized agent submits a request, we may require written and signed authorization from you, and we may contact you directly to verify the request. We may deny a request from an agent who does not provide sufficient proof of authorization.
15. United States Residents: State-Specific Rights
If you are a resident of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, or Virginia, you may have additional rights under your state’s privacy laws, including:
